How ironic

that the day I decide to finally create a new home for my blog, Blogger goes completely wonky.

This is a call out there to anyone and everyone who has a Typepad Blog. I'm trying to customize a new one and am not seeing how to do my own HTML. Or, do you have to have the most expensive account to do that? How do I add my own buttons etc?

Someone please help!? I'll love you forevah! I'll send you a cool Knitty Car Magnet if you help me too.

I'm off to meet Ramona for coffee and Target and will be back in a bit. The girly has requested that we get Don't Break the Ice. Remember that game?

  • I LOVE Don't Break the Ice. If she ever needs someone to play with her, let me know...seriously, I could play it for hours!

  • I'd signed up for Typepad's free trial...I really want the look of sidebars on both side of the content. Still going to use blogger until I figure it out, though.

  • I think you have to have the "Plus" membership to be able to customize the look of the site. I don't have a typepad account anymore. I think I had signed up for the free trial one time with the plus membership and I don't think they charged for the first month. I could be wrong though that was a while back.

I use Movable Type which is by the same company (so I think it uses the same basic cgi) and that one uses html combined with css style sheets to customize what they call the "templates" for the site.

I can have unlimited blogs on my site so if you ever want to play around with MT I can create a scoutj.egeltje.org for you.

  • I have TypePad, too. Will help if you need it. I had buttons even when I had the least expensive plan.

  • I have Typepad and I often hate it. It crashes all the time, so when you're writing a post, be sure to save periodically. Typepad was very hard for me to learn (I'm really still learning), but I'm a little slow with the technical stuff. I have the $8 a month plan...I don't know what that's called, but you can definitely use buttons. Good Luck.

  • There are lots of other free blogging sites out there, too. You don't have to pay for TypePad.

  • I have bitten the bullet and have decided to host at a .com.... I too want freedom and want the damn blog to be pretty! I have a really good friend who is a designer and will help... she is a knitter and wants to see the whole swap meet site that I am proposing gets up and running.
